Default control over your data, is privacy. Your personal metrics, financial, geographic, biometric, and health data, should be kept private. Most terms of service that you have agreed to claim nearly complete copyrights over anything you transmit over their network. Private means the default amount of information you give out is none at all. From there you decide what you want to share.

The shortest line to privacy on an Android phone is to acquire a Google Pixel phone and install Graphene or Lineage OS. Zenfoil can configure your device. Firewalling your Apple or Android phone can reduce third party surveillance, but will not stop the system itself from intrusive data gathering.
